What We Offer

Philosophy

St. John’s Preschool & Day Center is located in St. John’s Lutheran Church of Highland in the North Hills of Pittsburgh. Our program is designed to provide a stimulus for each child’s mental, social and physical capacity. Each child will become more aware of the world around them through play, arts and crafts, discovery, music, exercise, socialization with others and field trips. Our experienced staff will help to provide an understanding and love-filled enviornment where each child can develop and grow at his or her own rate.

The School Day

A school class day may include: sharing ideas and concepts; learning how to interact with peers at playtime; singing and moving with music; learning to appreciate music; learning how to use and develop our muscles through physical education; learning about nutrition through snack time and learning about caring and sharing through a loving and caring class atmosphere.

Day Care Center

Our Day Care is available to all children who are enrolled in the Preschool programs and their siblings. It is open during the school year from September through May. The operating hours are 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Monday through Friday. This service provides opportunities for the children to develop socialization skills through interaction with their peers in a safe and fun environment.

Children must be toilet trained (unless a caregiver is in the building).

Staff

St. John’s Preschool & Day Care Center is professionally staffed with certified teachers, assistants & other highly qualified personnel.

First Day of School

Our first day of school in September is an Orientation. Times are shortened, but we ask that you be prepared to spend this class time with your child. This better prepares them to be independent when the regular class starts the following week.
