St. John’s Lutheran Church of Highland offers Educational Classes for all age groups.
Pre-School, Elementary, and Early Middle School Christian Education
We offer classes for our young faithful church members. Our classes are separated by age and accommodate a combined class for 2 and 3-year-olds, a combined class for 4-year-olds through 2nd graders, and a combined class for our 3rd-6th graders. We use curricula that explore the Bible through stories, games, crafts and art projects designed to help the youth learn about the Bible and begin to grow in their faith.
Confirmation Classes
The focus of our 7th and 8th graders is preparation for Confirmation. Our two Pastors teach these classes. We focus on the continued growth of the students in their knowledge of the Christian Faith and the Lutheran principles, the growth of the students in their personal Faith and the preparation for each student to reaffirm their baptism. Our goal is that each student is able to walk away from the class being able to articulate their faith.
High School Christian Education
Our high school students have an opportunity to gather in our youth room for a relaxed Sunday morning. They can talk about their weeks and lives in a non-structured open time. High school students are also encouraged to help with younger classes or participate in the adult Bible study class.
Adult Education
We currently offer an adult “Christian Living” Bible Study. This course is an instructor-led Bible Study that uses scripture as the basis to help us share our experiences and be better parents, children and friends. Sometimes it helps to listen as others share their experiences in making tough decisions and keeping their lives in balance.
