Rev. Beth Clementson is St. John’s Associate Pastor, joining the pastoral staff in 2022. “Pastor Beth” is involved with worship leadership, pastoral care, teaching (with focus on youth and family ministries), Christian education, technology, evangelism and social ministries.
“As the associate pastor, I love getting to work as part of the incredible St. John’s team and staff,” Pastor Beth explains. “I love getting to walk alongside folks in their faith journeys. I absolutely love getting to work with our incredible youth and seeing them form relationships and connections. I love working with various committees and helping folks use their gifts, skills and passions to serve our congregation and community. And the thing I love most about my role at St. John’s is getting the opportunity to build relationships with members of the congregation. It’s truly an honor and so much fun to be a part of this community!”
Pastor Beth also admires St. John’s as a place where people can be wholly themselves and are not just welcomed but accepted and empowered. “There’s a deep commitment here to care for our neighbors, both in our local community and the wider world,” she continued. “We partner with many local and ecumenical outreach programs and ministries to show care and love to our neighbors near and far. There’s a clear desire to be God’s hands and feet in the world here, and it’s awesome to watch people’s passions, gifts and skills come to life as they serve God and their neighbors.”
In her short time of service at St. John’s, Pastor Beth has observed the extent of our parishioners’ inter-generational interaction. “There are people of all ages, and everyone has a place in the congregation,” she said. “We love kids in worship; they’re such an important part of our community and we love to include them.”
Pastor Beth has also noticed the support systems that develop at St. John’s. “if anyone is in need,” she continued, “the congregation supports each other and lifts each other up. When someone is going through a health crisis, people step up to make meals or send cards; if someone is struggling with something, people offer love and support without reservation.”
Outside of St. John’s, Pastor Beth serves on the Southwestern Pennsylvania Synod’s Council, the SWPA Synod’s Governance Committee and the Lutheran Service Society Board. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Thiel College and her Master of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Seminary at Gettysburg.
Pastor Beth resides in Wexford. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her Mini-Aussiedoodle, Scout (Stop by the office on a Monday and you might get to meet him!), watching women’s soccer (Go USWNT & Angel City FC!), spending time with family and friends, listening to Taylor Swift and Lake Street Dive, browsing through home décor stores, and rewatching her favorite TV shows (especially The Good Place).
