Greenie Men Moments

As I was preparing to preach for Trinity Sunday I came across an interesting thought which had not really occurred to me before. Someone mentioned that it is in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit, that we are brought into the family of God in baptism, and it is also in the name of the Trinity in which we give thanks for the gift of baptism and for the promise of new life as we gather for that same person’s funeral. So our life in Christ is framed by the Trinity.

So then, how does the Trinity have an impact on us during the inbetween times – the time between our baptism and our burial? Well our Gospel lesson for today addresses that quite nicely. In it we hear Jesus tell not only his disciples, but also us in turn, to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you.”

As we take seriously Christ’s call for our inbetween time to help others to begin a life in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, hopefully we can have fun along the way being creative in finding ways to make moments for others that might leave a lasting impact in showing God’s love. Amen.
