In our Gospel reading for today we hear about the first time that Jesus had to suffer in his ministry, and in our second lesson we learn of the time when Jesus not only knew what it was like to suffer, but he suffered in place of someone else. As we seek to love the Lord and love our neighbors as ourselves, at times we find ourselves in situations where we may suffer as we live out our faith. May we do so without fear, knowing our suffering grieves the One who loves us most, because that One knows what it is like to suffer and always wants life for us.
