Prepared for Rejection, Hopeful for Connection

Today we hear a story that is about rejection in one’s life of faith. First we hear of how Jesus went to his hometown and started to teach in the synagogue, where people questioned his authority to teach them and do deeds of power because they knew him as a carpenter and knew his family. And then we find that Jesus prepares his own disciples for rejection as they go out two by two. Yet, Jesus sends them out, still hopeful for connection, because they have something important to share. So we as well move forward in faith, prepared for rejection but hopeful for connection, in order that more and more might know the treasure we have in Christ Jesus.
