What are we to do when Jesus calls us to love our enemies and to pray for those who persecute us, and to walk not just one mile with someone but two? While we sometimes cannot physically walk a second mile with someone, and in terms of dangerous situations and relationships we should not walk that second mile in a literal sense, perhaps Christ is calling us to at least reflect upon the humanness in the other.  And while that does not change who that person is or what they have done, it can perhaps level the playing field a bit.  It reminds us that we all are in need of Jesus’ teaching – we all are in need of God’s care and grace.
