On this 5th Sunday after Easter we rejoice that we are indeed not alone, but that God continues to be with us in very real ways. By the power of the Holy Spirit, Christ continues to abide in us and we in him. And if we think about a vine and its branches, we know that like a Great Sequoia, while you can tell where the tree is, when it comes to its roots, they are very intertwined so that it is hard to tell them apart. The church at its best is also like this when we think about the branches of the vine. We are to be interconnected and supportive of one another. And through this support we are reminded of Christ himself in our midst.
